Editor's Comment
VGT is not a slot provider in the usual sense. It is a machine category, Video Gaming Terminals, that you will see in US states where regulated gaming extends beyond traditional casinos. The games themselves come from established manufacturers, and Aristocrat Gaming maintains a dedicated VGT section within its US game library. If you are searching for 'VGT slots' expecting an online casino brand, this guide will clarify what the term actually covers and where these games are played.
What We Liked
- A clear, state-regulated alternative to full casino floors, with VGTs placed in familiar local venues.
- Aristocrat's VGT library includes recognisable characters like Hot Red Ruby and classic three-reel and five-reel formats.
- The mix of mechanical-style reels, video slots, and traditional card games means there is something for most player preferences.
- VGTs are physical terminals, so there is no ambiguity about whether you are playing a real-money game or a social app.

How to Play VGT Games
Playing a VGT is similar to playing a traditional slot machine or video poker terminal, depending on the game type. The exact steps vary by machine and venue, but the general process is:
- Visit a licensed venue in a participating US state that offers VGTs.
- Choose a terminal and select the game you want to play from the on-screen menu.
- Insert cash or use the venue's approved payment method to load credits.
- Set your bet size using the machine's controls.
- Press the spin or deal button to start the game.
- Review any winnings and decide whether to continue playing or cash out.
Because VGTs are physical terminals, there is no account creation or online wagering involved. The experience is closer to a land-based casino slot than an online game.
Gameplay Graphics & Sound
VGT graphics and sound vary widely by title and manufacturer. Three-reel mechanical games tend to have a classic, uncluttered look with simple symbols and sound effects. Five-reel games often include more elaborate themes, animations, and bonus sequences. Aristocrat's VGT titles, such as Hot Red Ruby's Wild Weekend, feature character-driven visuals and themed soundtracks. The Hunt for Neptune's Gold uses a comic-book art style. Because these are physical machines, the audiovisual experience is tied to the terminal hardware rather than a browser or app.
Slot Features
VGT games can include a range of features depending on the specific title. Common features across the category include:
- Wilds: symbols that substitute for others to help complete winning lines.
- Scatters: symbols that can trigger bonuses regardless of their position on the reels.
- Multipliers: awards that increase the value of a win.
- Free Spins: bonus rounds where spins are awarded without additional wagering.
- Mini-games: interactive bonus events, often found in five-reel VGTs.
Five-reel games often include bonus features and mini-games along with varied themes. vgtsforindiana.org
