Ruby Slippers Slot Review - WMS Wizard of Oz, 30 Paylines & Six Bonus Rounds

Ruby Slippers Slot - Editor’s Comment

Ruby Slippers is not a new game, and it does not pretend to be. It is a WMS sequel to the original Wizard of Oz slot, and it carries the same broad appeal: familiar characters, bright symbols and a bonus structure that gives players several different ways to trigger a feature. The game has a 95.96% RTP and medium-high volatility, according to VegasSlotsOnline's game page, which places it in a reasonable range for a licensed video slot.

The appeal here is the variety of bonus rounds. The game offers six different bonus features, and the base game includes re-spins when certain character symbols land. That structure gives it more texture than a simple three-reel classic, but it also means the game can feel stop-start if you are waiting for a feature. The volatility is not extreme, but it is not low either, so sessions can swing.

One important limitation: Ruby Slippers is a WMS game that has been available on casino floors and some online platforms, but availability in Ireland is not universal. It is not a game that every Irish-licensed operator carries, and players should check the game library of a licensed site before assuming it is there. The game's RTP and volatility are published by third-party slot information sites, not by an Irish regulator, so treat those figures as game-level information rather than a guarantee of session outcomes.

What We Liked

• The 95.96% RTP is above the average for many modern video slots.
• Six bonus rounds give the game more variety than a single free-spins feature.
• The 30-payline layout is straightforward and easy to follow.
• Re-spins in the base game can extend a spin without requiring a full bonus trigger.
• The Wizard of Oz theme is well established and the symbols are clear.

What is the Ruby Slippers Slot?

The game was installed at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in California, according to ICT News, which described it as a penny game and a wide area progressive at that venue. ICT News

The online version, as listed by PlayOJO, uses a 5-reel, 30-payline layout. The game includes free spins, bonus rounds and reel re-spins. It is not a Megaways or cluster-pays game; it uses fixed paylines and a conventional reel structure. VegasSlotsOnline

Ruby Slippers should not be confused with the original Wizard of Oz slot, which has a slightly different RTP and feature set. The sequel uses its own maths and bonus structure, so figures from the original game do not apply here.

Ruby Slippers Slot Machine At A Glance

The table below summarises the key specifications for the online version of Ruby Slippers as published by VegasSlotsOnline. These figures apply to that version of the game and may not match every land-based or regional variant.

The bet range is expressed in the currency used by the source. Irish players should check the actual currency and bet limits on the platform they use, as these can vary by operator and jurisdiction. The RTP is a long-run theoretical average, not a prediction for any single session.

Ruby Slippers Slot RTP, Payout and Volatility

Ruby Slippers has a published RTP of 95.96% and medium-high volatility, according to VegasSlotsOnline. RTP is the theoretical percentage of all wagered money that a game returns to players over a very large number of spins. It does not mean you will get 95.96% of your money back in a session, and it does not change based on how long you play or how much you bet.

Medium-high volatility means the game sits between medium and high variance. In practice, that usually means wins are less frequent than a low-volatility game but can be larger when they arrive. The base game includes re-spins, and the bonus rounds can produce larger payouts, but the game is not a high-volatility jackpot slot in the same category as some modern titles.

The original land-based version at Fantasy Springs was described as a wide area progressive penny game by ICT News. The online version listed by VegasSlotsOnline does not carry the same progressive jackpot information, so players should not assume the online game is linked to that progressive. If a progressive is important to you, check the specific platform's game rules before playing.

How to Play Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers uses a standard video slot interface. The steps below describe the general process for playing the online version.

1. Set your bet. The published minimum bet is $0.01 and the maximum bet is £2/£5, according to PlayOJO. Use the bet controls to choose a stake that fits your budget.
2. Check the paytable. The paytable shows symbol values and explains how the bonus features are triggered. It is worth reading before you spin.
3. Spin the reels. You can spin manually or use autoplay if the platform supports it. The game has 30 fixed paylines.
4. Watch for character symbols. Landing certain character symbols can trigger a re-spin, which gives you another chance to complete a winning combination or trigger a bonus.
5. Trigger a bonus round. The game has six bonus rounds, and the trigger conditions vary. The paytable explains what each one does.
6. Set a session limit. Because the game has medium-high volatility, it can go through quiet spells. Decide on a loss limit before you start and stick to it.

Ruby Slippers does not have a skill element. The outcome of each spin is determined by a random number generator, and no strategy can change the odds or make a win more likely.

Ruby Slippers Gameplay, Graphics & Sound

The visual style of Ruby Slippers is based on the 1939 Wizard of Oz film. The reels use large, bright symbols, and the character symbols are clearly distinguishable. The game uses imagery and sounds from the film, according to ICT News, which noted that many of the sights and sounds from the movie are included. That gives the game a recognisable atmosphere, though the graphics are not as sharp as more recent video slots.

The gameplay is conventional: five reels, 30 paylines, and a mix of character symbols and lower-paying icons. The base game can feel slow if you are waiting for a feature, but the re-spin mechanic adds some momentum. The bonus rounds are where the game changes pace, and the six different features give it more variety than a single free-spins round.

Sound design follows the theme, with music and effects drawn from the film. If you prefer a quieter session, most platforms allow you to mute the sound. The game does not use complex animations or 3D effects, so it runs well on older devices and lower-bandwidth connections.

Ruby Slippers Slot Features

Ruby Slippers includes several features that distinguish it from a basic video slot. The main ones are:

• Re-spins: Landing certain character symbols can trigger a re-spin, giving you another chance to improve a combination or trigger a bonus.
• Six bonus rounds: The game offers six different bonus features, according to ICT News. These include features like Find the Broom, Crystal Ball, and Emerald City Free Spins, and they are triggered by different symbol combinations. ICT News
• Wild symbols: Wilds substitute for other symbols to complete winning lines. In some bonus rounds, wilds can cover entire reels.
• Multipliers: Some bonus features include multipliers that increase the value of a win. The multiplier value depends on the feature and the symbols involved.
• Free spins: At least one of the bonus rounds is a free-spins feature. The number of spins and any accompanying multiplier are determined by the trigger.

The exact details of each bonus round are explained in the game's paytable. Because the game has multiple features, it is worth reading the rules before playing so you know what to expect.

Bonus Features: Wilds, Multipliers, and Free Spins

Wilds

Wild symbols substitute for other symbols to help complete winning combinations. In Ruby Slippers, wilds can appear on the reels and may expand to cover entire reels during certain bonus features. The paytable explains how wilds interact with each symbol.

Multipliers

Some bonus rounds include multipliers that increase the payout of a winning combination. The multiplier value is not fixed across all features; it depends on the specific bonus round and the symbols that land. Multipliers apply to the win they are attached to, not to your total bet.

Free Spins

Ruby Slippers includes a free-spins bonus round. The number of free spins and any accompanying multiplier are determined by the trigger. Free spins are played at the same bet level as the spin that triggered them, unless the game rules state otherwise. Free spins cannot be retriggered indefinitely; the paytable sets the limits.

Re-spins

Re-spins are a base-game feature. When certain character symbols land, the game may award a re-spin, giving you another chance to land a winning combination or trigger a bonus. Re-spins do not cost extra and are played at the current bet level.

Other Ruby Slippers Features

Beyond the main bonus features, Ruby Slippers includes a standard paytable and a help screen that explains the rules. There is no skill-based element, and no feature that allows you to influence the outcome of a spin.

The game does not include a gamble feature or a buy-a-bonus option in the online version listed by PlayOJO. If you have seen references to a progressive jackpot, those relate to the land-based version at Fantasy Springs, not the online game.

Where to Play Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers is a WMS game, and WMS titles are available on a number of online casino platforms. Availability in Ireland depends on whether the operator holds the relevant licence and carries the game in its library. Not every Irish-licensed casino offers WMS slots, and some may offer the game only in certain regions.

If you want to play Ruby Slippers for real money, check the game library of a licensed operator. You can browse our Irish casino reviews to see which platforms are licensed and what games they offer. For a broader look at slot options, see our all online slot reviews.

If you prefer to try the game without risking money, some platforms offer a free-play or demo version. Demo versions use virtual credits and do not pay real money. They can be useful for understanding the features, but they do not simulate the long-term RTP of the real-money game in a way that predicts your results.
